Module 1: Mineral Makeup Theory
This module teaches you the essentials for formulating mineral makeup.
1.1 Introduction to mineral makeup
Formulating mineral makeup is different to formulating other types of cosmetics. We’ll teach you how to measure very small quantities of ingredients, how to write makeup recipes/formulas, the equipment and packaging you’ll need, how to mix your ingredients properly (to avoid a streaky appearance on application) and where to buy your supplies.
1.2 Color theory
Delve into the world of color! Discover primary, secondary and tertiary colors, color harmony, hues, tints, tones, shades and undertones.
1.3 Mineral makeup ingredients
Find out about the essential ingredients that you’ll need to make your mineral makeup, and learn how to create a variety of base powders that are important for coverage, adhesion and slip (enabling the products to be easily and smoothly applied). Then, of course, colors are required! Learn about mineral pigments and micas, and how to check the INCI list to see which ones are accepted by organic certifications.
Module 2: Mineral Foundation
After taking this module you’ll be able to create loose mineral foundations for a range of skin tones.
2.1 Mineral foundation
You’ll learn how to create a base powder that provides coverage, adhesion and slip (enabling the products to be easily and smoothly applied) and how to add colored pigments to create a foundation to match your skin tone.
You’ll discover how to measure your ingredients and blend them properly to achieve a uniform product that applies evenly without streaks (which can be a problem if the product isn’t blended properly).
We provide six recipes for six different shades of foundation, and give you advice about how to further adjust the shade and the undertone to perfectly match your skin.
Our video demonstration will show you step-by-step how to make your own foundation.
Module 3: Mineral Eye Shadow
After taking this module you’ll be able to create a wide range of loose mineral eye shadows including shimmery eye shadows, matte eye shadows and satin eye shadows.
3.1 Mineral eye shadow
You’ll learn how to create a base powder that provides coverage, adhesion and slip (enabling the products to be easily and smoothly applied) and how to add colored pigments and micas to create a range of beautiful eye shadows in a range of colors and finishes (matte, shimmery and satin).
You’ll discover how to measure your ingredients and blend them properly – different methods are suitable for different types of eye shadow.
We provide 13 recipes for 13 different eye shadow shades and finishes. You’ll also gain the knowledge and confidence to create your own custom eye shadows – playing with colors and finishes to create something beautiful and unique.

Module 4: Mineral Blushers, Bronzers and Highlighters
Add a flush of color, sparkle or a healthy sun-kissed look to your complexion with your own custom made blushers, bronzers and highlighters!
4.1 Mineral blushers, bronzers and highlighters
You’ll learn how to create a base powder that provides coverage, adhesion and slip (enabling the products to be easily and smoothly applied) and how to add colored pigments and micas to create a range of beautiful blushers, bronzers and highlighters in a range of colors and finishes (matte, shimmery and sparkly).
We provide lots of recipes to practice with plus you’ll also gain the knowledge and confidence to create your own custom products.

Module 5: Creating Pressed Powders
The course so far has focused on creating loose powders. In Module 5 you’ll learn how to press your powders to make them easier to use, more compact and portable.
5.1 Creating pressed powders
This practical module teaches you how to create pressed powders at home. You’ll learn about the tools and ingredients you will need, including:
- Pressing tools.
- Containers.
- Pressing mediums to ensure the powders remain compact and stick together.
- Step-by-step instructions for pressing powders.
- Suppliers – where to buy the specialist tools and containers you’ll need.

Chamomile and Aloe Hydrating Micellar Cleansing Water
This beautifully gentle micellar cleansing water is an effective facial cleanser which helps to remove makeup and impurities and is suitable for all skin types. Biphase Makeup Remover
With this formulation example, you will learn how to make a biphasic makeup remover that has two distinct layers which mix together easily once shaken, and separate quickly after use.
It is designed to remove waterproof makeup, sebum and other oily impurities from the skin’s surface. This product will solubilize even the most difficult-to-remove products, including waterproof mascara, foundation and sunscreen, making them easy to wipe away – no scrubbing needed!
This gentle cleanser is surfactant-free and ideal for the delicate eye and lip areas, making it a great first step in a double-cleanse system.
Learn which ingredients are suitable to use in each phase and which ingredient to include to help the phases separate quickly after being shaken together. You’ll also learn about polarity – an important consideration in this product type.
