Job Title: Student Services Officer

Organisation: School of Natural Skincare

Part time, home based, freelance position, with flexible hours – circa 25 hours per month (with the possibility of further hours). Competitive hourly rate. This position is open to candidates based anywhere in the world. You will be an independent contractor.

Reports to: Directors

Job purpose:

To coordinate the student journey from enquiry and admission, through to graduation and beyond and provide an effective, high quality customer focussed service at all times to customers and potential customers thereby contributing to the school’s recruitment targets and wider strategic objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to)

1) Providing first class support and customer service to prospective students, current students and graduates ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.

  • Being the first point of contact for prospective students, current students and graduates
  • Answering enquiries by email, Facebook messenger and phone
  • Helping students choose the right course for them
  • Troubleshooting any issues that arise for example accessing course materials

2) Planning, organising and administration

  • Student course material preparation and uploading learning materials on the online classroom and relevant platforms
  • Arranging meetings / calls
  • Communicating important information to students
  • Creating / maintaining student handbook
  • Creating / maintaining FAQs and other resources

3) Record keeping, monitoring and compiling reports

  • Create and manage record keeping, monitoring and reporting systems
  • Managing the process of assignment submission and issuing course completion certificates
  • Compiling case studies of successful graduates
  • Reporting on student / graduate progress and achievements
  • Collecting, analysing and reporting on student feedback

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Qualifications:

Educated to A Level or Degree Level (High School/ College / University Graduate)

Experience:

At least 3 years experience in a customer service / student support role with significant administrative duties

Skills, Knowledge, Abilities, Personal Attributes, Behaviours, Competencies:

REQUIRED

  • Excellent customer service skills with at least 3 years experience in a customer service role
  • Excellent written and verbal English
  • A confident communicator on the phone and in writing; able to negotiate and resolve problems
  • IT literate; ability to use online software and social media and quick to learn additional tools (e.g word, excel, csv, powerpoint, email, internet, social media, helpdesk software, email marketing/CRM systems, wordpress/CMS, graphic editing tools e.g pic monkey/ canva)
  • Empathetic with active listening skills
  • Can use initiative to solve problems and suggest improvements
  • Excellent organisation skills, the ability to plan, prioritise and manage own workload, work independently and meet deadlines
  • Strong and efficient administrative skills
  • A high level of attention to detail with the ability to accurately check and ensure the quality of own work and that of others
  • Experience of record keeping and the ability to set up and manage systems for effective working practices
  • Helpful, polite, positive outlook and a can-do attitude

PREFERRED

  • Knowledge of and interest in the natural/organic skincare market
  • Experience of working with an international customer base including communicating with customers whose first language isn’t English
  • Experience of working for an online business

Job Title: Formulation Tutor (Natural and Organic Cosmetics)

Organisation: School of Natural Skincare

Reports to: Directors

Job purpose:

To provide expert formulation advice, ideas and inspiration and troubleshooting tips  to support students in formulating their own natural and organic cosmetic products.

RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to)

Reporting to the Directors of the school, you’ll be required to deliver the following

  • Formulate products for educational purposes
  • Trial ingredients, conduct experiments and evaluate results, sharing these experiences with students
  • Support our students with their studies and provide formulation advice and troubleshooting
  • Be active in Facebook groups: providing support, answering questions and sharing advice
  • Write / research information for articles about a variety of topics related to natural and organic skincare, product formulation and cosmetic safety

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Qualifications:

Educated to A Level or Degree Level (High School/ College / University Graduate)

Experience:

At least 3 years practical formulation experience formulating a range of natural and organic cosmetics.

Skills, Knowledge, Abilities, Personal Attributes, Behaviours, Competencies:

REQUIRED

  • 3 years+ practical formulating experience of a wide range of natural and/or organic cosmetics
  • Logical and scientific approach to formulating and a high level of attention to detail
  • Knowledge and experience of using a wide range of natural emulsifiers, surfactants, preservatives and other ingredients
  • Ability to conduct research into natural/plant derived ingredients (including uses, benefits, efficacy, sourcing, manufacturing etc.)
  • Keen interest in latest trends, developments and advances and ability to report on these
  • Passionate about, and personal interest in, natural and organic skincare
  • Enjoy sharing ideas, findings, experiments and advice and teaching others
  • Enjoy using social media
  • Excellent customer service skills with first class written and verbal English
  • Excellent organisation skills, the ability to plan, prioritise and manage own workload, work independently and meet deadlines
  • Proactive, able to come up with ideas that will interest, education and inspire our audience
  • Can use initiative to solve problems and make suggestions
  • Helpful, polite, positive outlook and a can-do attitude

PREFERRED

  • Qualification in Cosmetic Science
  • Experience of product development from product brief to finished product
  • Knowledge of Cosmetics Regulations
  • Knowledge of, or an interest in researching, value based cosmetics e.g. vegan, fairtrade, sustainable, halal
  • Able to take good photos
